 September 6 Bargaining Update
COMMITTED TO REACHING AN AGREEMENT: At this point, the University’s bargaining team has presented the majority of its initial proposals to AFSCME, including proposals that will maintain the current contract language on health and retirement benefits. Many of the University’s positions ensure that PCT employees will receive the same high-quality benefits as other UC employees. These proposals represent the starting point for negotiations, and the University looks forward to working with AFSCME to reach agreement on all open articles.
HEALTH BENEFITS: The UC bargaining team presented AFSCME with updated information regarding 2008 medical plans. UC is committed to ensuring that all employees, including patient care technical employees, have continued access to affordable high-quality health care. Further updates will be posted at www.UCPatientCareTechs.com.
INFORMATION REQUESTS: The University is working in good faith to compile and respond to the information requests by AFSCME and provided an initial response to one of their recent requests during the bargaining session. UC will continue to provide relevant and necessary information as soon as it gathers responsive materials.
NEXT BARGAINING DATE: The next bargaining session is scheduled for September 18th and 19th. While the parties have agreed to a total of four bargaining dates in September, the University continues to seek additional dates throughout the month as well as into October, in an effort to work towards timely resolution on a new contract, which expires on September 30, 2007.
